Why should you visit Budapest at least once?

Budapest Hungary

Budapest Hungary

Hungary’s capital city Budapest is actually made up of 3 unified cities, with Buda and Obuda on the west bank of the Danube and Pest on the east bank. Much of the city has been granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status, and many visitors consider the city to be amongst the most beautiful cities in Europe.

The city successfully mixes its fascinating history with a brilliant, laid back contemporary artistic style. There are a wide range of different things for visitors to see and do, from museums to thermal spas, so everyone should be able to find something that tickles their fancy.

Budapest has an extensive transit network which features subways, trams, and buses. Public transportation is inexpensive and is quite easy to navigate. Since the city is relatively small, many attractions are within reasonable walking distance of The Deak Ferenc square 30 mins to get to Castle hill or Heroes’ Square

Cheese is one of my favourite things on earth so of course this was the best Hungarian dish for me. I had no idea Camembert specifically was so popular in Hungary. Most Hungarian restaurants pair it with cranberry dip as a starter or main dish in fact, it’s so popular that even McDonald’s offer it on their menus.

Hungary’s large Jewish population makes the city a great place to learn about the history and sample traditional foods. In the area around Dohány Street Synagogue, there are countless eateries serving Israeli and Middle Eastern foods like shawarma and shakshuka, my favourite brunch dish made with baked eggs, tomato sauce, chorizo and feta.

I was amazed at how little it cost for meals and drinks. Cafes are very popular and a must do since some of them are like taking a step back in time. Although accommodations in Budapest are pretty reasonable.
